Tournament Rules

The Deep South Bowl is a weekend full of a variety of team, trios, doubles and singles bowling events.  Each event has it's own prize fund paid out at the end of each squad.  All mixed events require at least 1 male and 1 female bowler.  Both UBA and non-UBA bowlers are welcome.  No youth bowlers are allowed to participate.  UBA members are encouraged to wear their team jerseys throughout the weekend.   

 

Entry Fee:  $75.00 per person, per event.  Event purchases must be paid in full to secure your spot.  No Deposits!  Events will be available for purchase beginning November 1, 2024 and close January 17, 2025. 

 

Walk-In Entries:  Walk-In entries will be accepted if space is available.  You must arrive at least 45 mins prior to event starting time.  Event fee will increase to Walk-In fee is $100 per person, per event.  

 

Max Entries: This tournament will be limited to the max paid entries for each event. Prize fund will be returned 100%

 

Payout Ratio:  1 in 5 will cash. 

 

Team Lineups:  Team lineups must be included in event entry.  

 

Tournament Format:  All events are handicap with an optional scratch entry at check-in. Check-In will begin 1 hour prior to each squad.    1 person per team is required to check-in.  You will need your event ticket to check-in.

 

Format for Baker Games

  • The Baker format requires each bowler to alternate frames to combine for one score on a single lane.  You will bowl on assigned lane ONLY, not alternate lanes on a pair.  

  • Bowlers will bowl in the following order (to be set at the beginning of the baker games):     

    • 1st Frame - Bowler A

    • 2nd Frame - Bowler B

    • 3rd Frame - Bowler C

    • 4th Frame - Bowler D

    • 5th Frame - Bowler A

    • 6th Frame - Bowler B

    • 7th Frame - Bowler C

    • 8th Frame - Bowler D

    • 9th Frame - Bowler A

    • 10th Frame - Bowler B

Average and Handicap:  

  1. Highest book average from the 2022-2023 & 2023-2024 season of 21 or more games, including summer.

  2. CURRENT league average if 10+ pins or higher

  3. Re-rated average if bowler has been re-rated in ANY tournament (whether or not re-rate was accepted) in the past 12 months. 

  4. If no average under the above rules, the bowler will bowl scratch (225).

Failure to report will result in disqualification and forfeiture of entry fees and possible banishment from future events. 

 

Handicap will be 80% of 225.  Baker handicap with be 1/4 of the total team handicap per baker game.

 

Tournament officials reserve the right to rerate any bowler’s average at any time.  Any re-rates during the tournament are not retroactive and will only apply to any future games bowled.

Late Bowlers: Bowlers that are late will receive a 0 for each frame missed. NO make-up frames allowed.

 

Brackets/Side Pots: Brackets and Side pots will be available during tournament play. All Brackets and Side pots are paid in cash same day.

Substitutions:  Substitutions will be allowed up to 15 mins prior to the start of an event.  No subs will be allowed thereafter.  

 

Any Rules not covered here will follow USBC rules.

 

ALL DECISIONS BY THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR ARE FINAL.
